Can the Olympus DS-2400/2500 recorder record in .dss format?

By default, the Olympus DS-2400 recorder records in a new .ds2 format.  By replacing the firmware on the recorder, it can be configured to record in .dss format.  Below are the steps:

1. Download and unzip following Olympus firmware file.
2. Connect the DS-2400/2500 to the computer.
3. Close DSS Player software if it opens.
4. Run the DS-2400_FirmwareUpdate_DSSClassic.exe from the downloaded files.
5. Follow the prompts.

To verify that you have installed this correctly, check the DS2400 menu on the recorder and verify that it is version 1.02c.
