The Bytescribe WavPlayer uses components of Windows MediaPlayer to play files. If there is a problem with Windows MediaPlayer or if Windows MediaPlayer does not support some functions for certain file formats, you can try an alternate version of WavPlayer that does not use components of Windows MediaPlayer. Here is what to do:
Windows 10, 8, 7 and Vista
1. Close WavPlayer.
2. Use Windows Explorer to go to the installation folder ("C:\Program Files\Bytescribe\WavPlayer" in XP OR "C:\Program Files(x86)\Bytescribe\WavPlayer" in Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10).
3. Find a file called "WP6.exe" or just "WP6" and double-click it. This will open a different version of WavPlayer. Click "Help | About" to confirm that it says "Rev A" after the version number.
Try playing your files with this alternate version of WavPlayer. If it corrects the issue, you can create a shortcut on your Desktop to this file.
If you are using WavPlayer with DocShuttle and you want to use this alternate version, you can rename "WavPlayer.exe" to "WavPlayer.old.exe" and rename "WP6.exe" to "WavPlayer.exe".
